They probably figured they had to get things done.

...They figured I was fucking losing focus on my hunt for the child genius they kidnapped when he was eight and who was one of two friends I had as a kid. They held him for fucking thirty years.

What were they going to do with him?

He's a Pretender. He can literally be anyone who he wants to be. Doctor, lawyer, airline pilot, murderer, anything. He did simulations figuring out how things work. The Centre used his simulations for a variety of things. None of them were fucking good by the end.

Could they have been?

Yep. He's out doing good with them right now. The whole fucking time I chased him.

Wait, he wound back up at the Centre?

He's out doing the Sims on his own. I stopped chasing him because I took a bullet in my back and died.
